Quark Inc. announced today the availability of QuarkXPress Server 7.2, the new release of Quark’s dynamic publishing technology that combines the typography and graphic support of QuarkXPress with server-based performance to develop and publish on-demand creative communications. QuarkXPress Server powers Web-to-print and variable data publishing (VDP) solutions that automate the creation of advertisements, catalogues, one-to-one, or one-to-many creative material.
The new XML capability in QuarkXPress Server 7.2 eases system integration and maximises a user’s creative assets by repurposing content created in QuarkXPress into other systems, such as an e-mail server, Web server or other content delivery environments. QuarkXPress Server 7.2 supports http, SOAP, .net, ASP, PHP, JSP and includes a Java manager for the rapid development of automated and scalable publishing solutions.

In addition to the benefits of enhanced XML capability, QuarkXPress Server 7.2 offers:
. Simple scalability: QuarkXPress Server Manager allows for the centralised configuration of additional servers, load balancing and automated error reporting
. Improved output accuracy: QuarkXPress Job Jackets helps ensure that a print job adheres to the user’s specifications from creation to production
. Support for Universal Binary: QuarkXPress Server 7.2 runs natively on the Intel Mac
Quark partners with software developers and system integrators to deliver QuarkXPress Server solutions that enable advertising automation, catalogue production, Web-to-print, and one-to-one marketing. Existing partners such as Stibo Catalogue and IO Integrators have been enthusiastic about supporting QuarkXPress Server 7.2 and delivering the new technology to their clients.
“Stibo is excited about the introduction of QuarkXPress Server 7.2 and is looking forward to delivering this new technology to our catalogue- and product-focused customers,” said Carsten Lau, vice president of marketing for Stibo Catalogue. “We have been supporting QuarkXPress Server technology for several years, which has enabled our clients to improve efficiency and quality without additional expertise or resources. QuarkXPress Server 7.2’s XML capabilities and automated publishing features will add even further value for our customers.”
“QuarkXPress Server 7.2’s new XML capabilities and support of the Intel Mac allow us to be even more flexible when building solutions for our clients, which is crucial because we work within a wide array of customer environments,” said Eric Rewitzer, co-founder, IO Integration. “The increased flexibility helps us create the high-end, customised and automated solutions that easily plug into our clients’ existing publishing or Web environments.”
Linda Chase, senior vice president of enterprise products for Quark said, “Many of our customers as well as our partners’ customers are in need of a solution for automating their publishing process. QuarkXPress Server 7.2 helps meet that need by moving users beyond rigid template-driven design to the creation of richly designed content quickly and easily. The enhanced XML capability of QuarkXPress Server 7.2 makes it possible to automatically construct design-rich QuarkXPress documents within data-driven or Web-driven workflows.”
