Mikkel Aaland is a professional photographer who wrote nine books. In this book, he discusses how you should use Photoshop Camera RAW to obtain best results.

First of all, Mikkel Aaland uses the ExpoDisc to set white balance to a proper value. It’s the first time that I see this exceptional contraption mentioned in a book, and I think that’s a good thing.

Aaland then goes on spending a lot of time in Adobe Bridge, discussing topics that have little to do with RAW, but much with management. Finally, half way the book he starts discussing Camera RAW very extensively. Literally everything in the Camera RAW window gets coverage here.

Aaland also discusses the profile to use with RAW files, how to create a HDR image from one RAW file, how to customise sharpening, and how to export to Black and White in ACR.

What sets this book really apart is that it explains you how to profile a camera for calibration with ACR, and that it pays much attention to the relationship between RAW and DNG.

Focus on XML publishing

XML enables InDesign and QuarkXPress users to re-purpose content for use on the web, smart phones, PDAs, etc.

Focus on layout conversion

We covered the software to convert InDesign files into QuarkXPress and vice versa without the need for manually cleaning up a mess.

Quark job jackets

Quark Job Jackets are an innovative technology. We created a Basic and Advanced Training Pack to learn using them.
