In his 275 pages book, Kelby covers about everything you will ever want to know and need to know on Photoshop channels. He starts with explaining how channels actually work, and what they associate with in the analogue world. Then, Kelby goes through Photoshop’s channels features like a steam roller. Although the author who clearly enjoys writing in his tongue-in-cheek style, has refrained from doing so by lack of space on every page, the book “sticks”.

Yes, even when Kebly can’t be funny because the screenshots of the photographs he uses in this book, are simply too big for anything but the instructions that come with each step, he is still capable of glueing his readers’ eyes to the paper. If you don’t know much about channels in Photoshop, this is the one and only book that will tell you the basics and beyond. For more in-depth information on all things “Photoshop channels”, Kelby himself advises to buy Katrin Eismann’s Photoshop Masking and Compositing book.

However, if you need some refreshing on how to deal with channels in order to correct photographs, to create masks or to achieve some fantastic effects, this book may all be what you need.
