The third edition of this wonderful pocket guide published by O’Reilly is filled to the rim with practical tips and tricks that are great to carry with you when shooting pictures. Some of these tips are not just useful for digital photographers either.
The author of this pocket guide is Derrick Story, a professional photographer who has a keen eye for the practical side of photography. One of the tips in the book involves photographing in group — like the sort of photographing you see reporters do when there’s a mass event. Story advises to carry with you a step ladder, so you can tower out above the crowd.
Other tips are more in tune with what amateurs might encounter during their photography sessions. When do you apply exposure compensation, for example? Or when do you use fill in flashlight? Story also covers camera features, although that part of the book is the least interesting: you can better read the manual to find out about your camera.
