Eddie Tapp is a well-known photographer and teacher. He’s highly appreciated by Scott Kelby, the big boss of NAPP. And his books are worth their money, especially if you want to learn about Photoshop in a highly visual way. He only lacks the tongue-in-cheek style of writing Kelby is renown for.

O’Reilly has a whole series of Tapp on digital photography and everything associated with it, including colour management, and now Photoshop Workflow Setups. I’m not a fan of the screenshot-type book where the text is reduced to a telegram style one column of instructions, and that is exactly what this book is.

Tapp doesn’t explain a lot. He shows it to you, by using carefully chosen screenshots and just the right amount of text next to them. It still isn’t my kind of instruction book, but to be honest, it’s among the best in its kind. You will learn how Photoshop works by looking at the screenshots and then doing the same on your computer. But how deep your understanding of Photoshop will be after having gone through this book is a big question mark to me.
