Apple Pro Series: Advanced Logic Pro 7

David Dvorin takes on where Martin Sitter leaves off in his furthermore excellent tutorial on Logic Pro and Logic Express 7. Dvorin concentrates on the Pro version of Logic and goes way deep into its rich and complex feature set. Whereas Sitter focuses more on Logic’s many features and how to get at them, Dvorin focuses more on the workflow a professional audio engineer would follow with Logic.

FrameVault: Prosumer Video Manager

FrameVault is the first prosumer software solution for managing your digital video assets on Mac OS X. That’s what it said on the Einstein’s Legacy web site, so we took FrameVault for a ride.

FixerLabs is a British developer of photograph fixing applications. They developed the FocusFixer application which is capable of correcting lens blur for a large number of cameras in astonishingly accurate ways. SizeFixer is the first version of their upsizing program.

Podcasting: Big Business

It’s everywhere: podcasting. As many others, I receive Scott Sheppard’s podcast “Inside Mac Radio” at least once a week. According to Gartner, podcasting is on the rise and will mature in 2 to 5 years from now.

Sharpener Pro 2 Complete Edition Review

Sharpening an image can be quite painful. Photoshop CS2 has a new sharpen filter, Smart Sharpen. DeBabelizer offers a Convolution filter with more than a dozen parameters to set. The proof of the pudding in this case is in viewing on-screen whether enough sharpening has been applied. nik Multimedia believe they can do better.

HarmonyAudio: Exemplary GarageBand Companion

The Miglia HarmonyAudio is a FireWire audio interface especially suited for Mac OS X, although it can be used with Windows PCs as well. The HarmonyAudio is Miglia’s first adventure with audio, and it’s a serious amateur’s bull’s eye right from the start.

Apple Pro Series Motion

Damian Allen takes the reader on a trip to Motion’s more difficult to achieve compositing effects.  Allen assumes you’ve read the Getting Started tutorial from Apple Pro Series.
The book takes a project-based approach, which works well in covering complex Motion topics.

Slovenia video production all in favour of Final Cut Pro

Restart is a Slovenian video production business. They are active in post-production and broadcast design. Restart works in all resolutions from PAL, HD to 2k work for films. Bojan Mastilovic explains: “We are a new company of currently only two people but with more than 15 people that work for us on an event basis.” Restart chose for Final Cut Pro over Adobe products, and for a good reason too.

Apple Pro Training Series: Getting Started with Motion

Mary Plummer wrote an entry-level tutorial book on Apple’s compositing application Motion. It says “Introduction to Motion Graphics” on the cover, but it’s a bit more than just that. She covers about everything Motion has to offer, including the Primatte RT filter.

Final Cut Studio at SPIRaRT

IT-Enquirer had a short e-mail interview with Stewart Brown, the CEO of SPIRaRT. SPIRaRT is a design firm, which has just begun to venture in the film making business. Stewart chose Apple’s Final Cut Studio for his project.
